[mod post] Rules
Hello, and welcome to the
ho_summer fic exchange!
Your mods
mousapelli and
faded_lace are really excited to kick off a brand-new J&A smut fic exchange here on Dreamwidth! This is the first time for us to run this exchange, so please forgive any bumps and allow us to work out the kinks (pun intended), but we're really looking forward to writing fic with (and for) everyone!
Sign ups will tentatively begin on May 1st, but before you jump right in, please read the rules first. They're long and most of them are pretty standard for exchanges, but please make sure you're familiar with them before you sign up.
1. The Schedule (tentative)
Sign-Ups: May 1st-14th
Assignments: May 20th
Fics Due: June 24th
Posting: July 1st
Reveals: July 8th
2. General Fic Criteria
→ Please follow your recipient’s request to the best of your ability.
→ Fics must be at least 1,000 words in length. There is no max word limit.
→ Fics should be beta-read before submitting.
↳ Please email us if you need a beta-reader and we will try our best to find you one.
↳ The deadline to ask for a beta is June 17th.
→ Fics should have all necessary HTML tags
↳ Proper HTML formatting includes bold, italics, and underlines.
↳ Please do not use any other formatting, such as fonts or colors.
→ Use the proper header at top included in your assignment email.
↳ In order to maintain anonymity, please do not add or remove anything from the header
↳ Please do not state your name or username in the header (or elsewhere!)
→ Please use proper English spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.
↳ Please do not use internet abbreviations like “lol” unless they are in dialogue.
→ Fics must be in English!
↳ Absolutely no kanji, hiragana, katakana, or other writing form is allowed.
↳ Please do not use Japanese words such as “kawaii” or “minna.”
↳ Normal fandom terms like “senpai” are acceptable.
↳ Words the describe things unique to Japan, such as “shinkansen” or “onigiri” are also fine.
→ This should go without saying, but absolutely no plagiarism is allowed. Even if it’s a fic you previously wrote yourself, if it’s published anywhere on the internet or in print, reusing it for this exchange is considered plagiarism.
3. Porn Criteria
→ This is a porn exchange! Fics must be rated R or NC-17 and contain graphic sexual content.
→ Please be respectful of all kinks and preferences, and be detailed in your signup about what you do and don’t want. We understand that something that’s exciting to one person can be upsetting to the next, and we want to match writers and recipients so that everyone can write and receive something they enjoy.
→ Because we have participants from many countries and consent laws vary greatly around the world, sexual situations with participants under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited. The cutoff for characters to turn 18 in real life is May 1st, 2017. Absolutely no exceptions.
4. Participating Requirements
→ You must have previously written an R or NC-17-rated, beta-read fic longer than 1,000 words.
→ There is no way for us to police this, but based on an honor system, please be at least 16 years of age at the time of your signup.
5. Requesting Requirements
→ There must be at least one J&A talent in your request. Former members such as Akanishi Jin are not included in this, so, for example, Jin and Kame would be an acceptable pairing request but Jin and Koki would not.
→ Be realistic about your request. If you’re the only person who writes a certain pairing, please don’t request only that pairing.
→ Please list multiple pairings, groups, and genres. It will likely be impossible for us to match you if you only reqest one pairing in one situation. The chances of receiving something you enjoy are higher if you give your writer multiple options.
→ Please be clear about the kinks and situations you want and don’t want. Porn preferences are different from person to person, so please help your writer give you what you like and avoid what you don’t like.
→ Please be respectful of the kinks and sex acts that you don’t like! For example, “no weird kinks!” or “I don’t like gross bathroom stuff” are both unnecessarily adversarial and vague. Let’s make this a fun and safe exchange for everyone!
6. Anonymity
→ As is often the nature of exchanges, this exchange is anonymous. That means that you submit your fic to the mods, the mods will post it to the community, and in the end, who wrote what will be revealed.
→ Please do not put your name, nickname, or username anywhere in your fic or header. Please do not put your beta’s, friends’, or personal cheerleader’s names, nicknames or usernames in your fic or header either.
→ If you have any questions for your recipient, please do not contact them directly! Contact the mods, and we will contact them for you and get back to you with the answer.
→ This goes without saying, but please don’t tell your recipient that you’re writing for them, and don’t post publicly on DW, LJ, Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media about your recipient.
7. Extensions
Please double check your schedule and the exchange schedule before signing up. If you have school exams, a family vacation, or some other obligation scheduled for late June, please make sure you can get your fic done early before you sign up. We welcome early submissions! The deadline is June 24th, but you’re welcome to submit to us any time between May 21st and June 24th!
We will grant extensions on a case-by-case bases, but please do everything you can to avoid needing one. If you absolutely must drop out, please contact the mods as soon as possible. We need to find a pinch hitter and do everything we can so that the recipient can get their fic on time, so if you’re having any problems, please tell us as soon as possible.
8. Contact
→ Please email us at hosummer[dot]mod[at]gmail[dot]com with any questions or concerns! Additionally, both mods are reachable through DW private message. If you PM us, please make sure your privacy settings are such that we can PM you back.
→ Please post any questions you have in the comments, or contact mods at the above email or through PM.
→ Please sign up with an email you check regularly! And please respond to inquiries from your writer as soon as possible. The sooner you get back to us, the sooner your writer can get to work on your fic!
That's all for now, but please stay tuned!
